Richard Troutman "Dick" Ward Sr.

WARD Richard "Dick" Troutman Ward Sr., just shy of 90, of Columbus, Oh., died peacefully on August 19, 2009, with family by his side. Born in Wellsville and raised in Cambridge, Oh. He graduated from the Ohio State University. He served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII yet his proudest accomplishment was being an Eagle Scout. Amongst his many career endeavors, he worked in a steel mill, was a buyer of women's dresses for Lazarus and eventually had his own real estate company. He was a past president of the Columbus Board of Realtors. His high standards and work ethic made him a successful businessman and real estate broker. Dick enjoyed a long life of adventure through hunting, fly-fishing, biking, training bird dogs, and sailing. He was an avid cook and a gentleman to all. He was loved by many and will greatly missed. Preceded in death by his wife MaryKay (Sam) Ward, son Richard (Rick) Troutman Ward, Jr., brother William (Bill) Ward, parents Harriett Troutman and Elmer E. Ward. Survived by brother, Elmer Ward; daughter, Jan (Bob) Chambers; daughter, Shelley (Sam) Beck; son, Tim (Beth) Hammer; daughters, Susan (Kevin) Doherty, Karen (Ron) Cameron, Molly (David) Tanner; sister-in-law, Molly Mott. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristin, Rick, Jennifer, Tyler, Allyson, Joseph, Jacob, Alex, Abby, Meghan, Katy, Thomas and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Simon, Nina, Stella

Dale C. Haynes

HAYNES Dale C. Haynes, age 84, of Johnstown, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Northview Senior Living Center in Johnstown. He was born May 29, 1925 in Newark, Ohio to the late Raymond B. and Evelyn B. (Canfield) Haynes. Mr. Haynes joined the United States Navy in August of 1943 at Great Lakes, Illinois. He entered the Navy V-12 Program at Denison University from July 1944-June 1945 and NROTC at the University of Kansas from July 1945-June 1946. He was released to inactive duty in June 1946 and commissioned ensign in April 1947. Mr. Haynes graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in June 1947. He was recalled to active duty from USNR Organized Reserve in September 1950 during the Korean War. He graduated from Naval General Line Post Graduate School, Monterey, California in Advanced Communications in December of 1950. He was assigned to the USS Rockbridge (APA-228), attack transport, where he served as communications officer and assistant operations officer in both the Pacific and Atlantic until released to inactive duty in October 1952. He was discharged from the USNR in 1966 as lieutenant commander. Mr. Haynes worked for the Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 23 years as merchandise manager of the Major Appliance Division and eighteen years as district manager of the Commercial Division for Sears Roebuck and Company. He retired in 1990. He was a life member of Sigma Chi fraternity at Denison University and was also a member of the Triangle Lodge 748 F&AM and the Scottish Rite-Valley of Columbus. He is survived by two step-sons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Burneal Watkins Haynes in 1992 and by a brother Dr. Earl R. Haynes.

Boyd W. Wooten "Woody"

WOOTEN Boyd W. "Woody" Wooten, age 83, of Gahanna, Oh. was called home to God on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Preceded in death by the love of his life June E Wooten, mother Susie Schillinger and father Theodore Wooten. Survived by daughter, Linda S. Althouse of Gahanna; granddaughter, Melissa Sims of Reynoldsburg; great-grandchildren, Britany and Isiah Sims of Reynoldsburg; two brothers, Kenneth Wooten of Delaware and Jack Wooten of Gahanna; sister, Ruth Sayre of Columbus; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jeannie and Clark Scites of Gahanna. He honored our country with his services in the Navy from 1942-1946 and Army from 1947-1964. Retired from the Army as a CW02 then went on to retire from Nationwide Insurance as a claims adjuster in 1985. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the VFW Post #4719 and served in WWII and Korean War. Family would like to thank Summerville at Chestnut Hill and Harbor Light Hospice for the wonderful care given to Woody. Those who wish may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association , 3380 Tremont Rd.
